Look for clues...rings, hair, clothing and even the book might help you to guess.

If you want to take part collect an entry form from Mrs Finnie for 20p every lunch time this week.

Extreme Reading Competition

Parents have been invited to email in photos of their children reading in extreme or at least unusual places.  There are some great ones already so keep them coming.

Book Week 2nd March - 6th March 2015

As you know it is World Book Week this week and as a school we are working hard to promote reading for enjoyment.

 

Each class are taking part in all or some of the following activites:

 *Decorate your door as a book cover

*Bring a Book/Take a Book – children bring in a book in good condition and swap with someone in their class

*Reading Safari – classes go to visit another class to see their newly decorated reading ‘corners’

*ERIC time ideally every pupil and teacher reading 1.20 – 1.30 each day where possible

*Story as a School – each teacher will bring in an unusual object.  P7 will begin a story together to include their unusual object and then send this story starter to P1 who will continue it and include their unusual object etc so by the end of the week all classes will have contributed to story. 

*Guess the teacher behind their favourite book competition – photos of each member of staff behind their favourite book displayed in entrance foyer.  Children can pay 20p to enter competition to guess who each one is

*Book Character Assembly – Thursday 5^th March

 

As well as the above activities parents have been invited to be involved in the following:

 

*Extreme Reading Competition – parents to email photos of their children reading in extreme (or at least unusual) places and I will add them to website

*Make a Book Box –  children, if they wish to, could decorate a shoe box and place in items related to a book and a copy of the book itself.  They could then share their box with classmates, talking about their book and explaining why they have chosen the items.  Prizes to be awarded for the most creative boxes and all boxes are put on show for the rest of the school and parents.

Crochet Bag

On Wednesday at the club we practised our single crochet (sc) stitch.  This stitch can be used to create bracelets, scarfs and bags.

Knitting and Crocheting Club

Granny Square

My new knitting and crocheting club begins tomorrow in the Primary 5 classroom.  Fifteen children from P5, P6 and P7 have signed up.

I am going to teach a range of stitches for both knitting and crocheting.  Tomorrow we will begin by crocheting a Granny Square.
