On Wednesday at the club we practised our single crochet (sc) stitch. This stitch can be used to create bracelets, scarfs and bags.

Knitting and Crocheting Club

My new knitting and crocheting club begins tomorrow in the Primary 5 classroom. Fifteen children from P5, P6 and P7 have signed up.
I am going to teach a range of stitches for both knitting and crocheting. Tomorrow we will begin by crocheting a Granny Square.

New P1 Induction Day - Wednesday 18th June 2014
I can't believe another academic school year is nearly over! On Wednesday afternoon we welcome our new Primary 1 pupils who will be meeting their new teacher and having a look around the school. All our current pupils will also be moving to their new classroom and spending the afternoon getting to know their new teacher.
Primary 7s are also out at their new High Schools on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for their transition days and we wish them all the best.
Next week will also be busy, particularly for our P7 pupils, with our Leavers' assembly on Thursday 26th June at 2.00pm and our Leavers' Mass on Friday morning at 9.30am.

Sport's Day
Here is a a review of last Friday's Sport's Day written by Harris in P7. I think you would all agree that it was a fantastic day and thankfully our prayers were answered and we had beautiful weather. Thank you to all who came along and supported the children and who helped in any way to make the day run so smoothly!
The weather was great, the equipment was ready and it was sports day. Today was going to be a good day.
Me and Kyle were team leaders of team one in St. Margaret's. As we read the list of team members in our group we figured that our team was very good therefore we had quite high hopes of winning. As soon as all our team was collected; Mrs Taylor called out each house group individually to go to their station and prepare.
We ended up at station seven, the egg and spoon race. I enjoyed that station a lot and all our team members were fairly good at it. Afterwards we moved to the long jump. That was the station were we scored the most points. We were ecstatic with our score of nine hundred and ninety.
Luckily on the dress up station me and Kyle were told not to dress up but instead to help our team. It was a great relief to know that we don't have to run around looking daft.
Finally at the end of sports day we found out the winners. Unfortunately for St. Margaret's we came last then St. Columba's came third, St. Andrew's came second and St. Theresa's came first. Sports day was really great and I will miss it a lot in St. Cuthbert's.

Brazuca - the best World Cup football ever??!!
In Primary 7 they have been writing some adverts to persuade and convince people that 'Brazuca' is the best ever World Cup Football!!

Critical Thinking with World Cup Mascots
This morning Primary 7 have been doing some critical thinking about the World Cup Mascots from 1966 England's Willie to 2014 Brazil's Fuleco.
We had to consider a range of questions and discuss answers and justify reasons for our answers.
"I thought my group worked well together. We discussed our ideas but overall we were in agreement with each other and were able to present our arguments in a clear and consise way." Niamh

Angry Birds Angles
To describe angles we have been using the vocabulary obtuse, right, obtuse and reflex.
We found a lovely PowerPoint to help explain the different sizes of angles.

We then created some Angry Bird scenes and measured the angles to sling the birds to hit the targets.
